Will there ever be a more transformative decade in my life? 2010-2019, a review. 2010 – Graduated from @westvirginiau, started at @mitpics 2011 – started dating Tommy / made my 3 best friends in grad school 2012 – nothing really? Grinding away at MIT 2013 – graduated from @MIT 2014 – Selected to host and produce Xploration Outer Space 2015 – first Emmy nomination, moved to SF 2016 – filmed Bill Nye Saves the World 2017 – got married, Ada Lace books released 2018 – did my 3rd TEDx talk, spoke at SXSW 2019 – launched Ada Lace to the ISS, launched an ultrasound to the edge of space, filmed a new show whilst 9 months pregnant, and had a little baby girl. What a freaking decade. I worked hard, loved hard, took risks, traveled the world, jumped out of planes, dived down to underwater habitats, trained like a cosmonaut, and gave birth to a friggin human being. It’s wild to reflect on these moments because there were SO MANY times when I felt like I was failing. Like I was being lazy. Like I was lagging far behind my peers. The brain is a tricky beast. You’re often way more amazing than it is telling you. Here’s to more milestones, more scary things that push our limits, more wonderful things that make us happy cry, and more time spent trying to make other people’s lives better. I feel incredibly lucky and in the next decade I plan to use my privilege to lift up others. I plan to carve out more time for my family. I plan to take things as they come, to be less anxious about the small stuff and to remember that these years, man, these years grow into decades quickly. So let’s take advantage of the time we have on this beautiful planet. Happy New Year’s friends, thanks for following along 🥂🎉
Their first child was born in 2019 and her name is Rose Kimberley Frank. One of the facts that is worth noting is that while filming her new show “Emily’s Wonder Lab”, Emily was around eight months pregnant.
I guess, her love for children that can be seen in the show is not just her personality but was because of her maternal instincts too.
With such talented parents who teach science to everyone in such a fun way, their daughter Rose is sure gonna be a brilliant person in the future.

Happy anniversary to this guy. 🥰 12 years ago around this time we hiked up half dome together during the NASA internship that we met at. Yesterday, on our anniversary we did that same hike (ok just 9 miles of it… Rose chickened out on Half Dome). I’m so thankful to have someone to do all these adventures with (and carry an 11 month old on a 9 mile hike) and to love our daughter so dearly. You’re my favorite. I love you and I like you. 💙
