Maria Victoria Henao was the wife of one of the most famous Colombian drug kingpins named Pablo Escobar who has a whole Netflix show called Narcos based on him. The two fell in love and got married in 1976 before she turned 16 while Pablo was around 26 years. They had met when Henao was just 13 years old through her older brother Marios who used to work with Escobar in various small criminal enterprises. The couple stayed married for around 17 years till Escobar died in 1993.

The two have two children, Juan Pablo who is now known as Sebastian Marroquin and a daughter named Manuela.

Maria was dependent on her husband most of her life and enjoyed his success when his net worth was around $30 billion. She stayed with him despite him seeing many other different women on the side.

What Happened To Maria Victoria Henao After Pablo Escobar Died?

Pablo was killed by the Colombian police forces in December 1993 and this led to Maria together with her kids having to live a fugitive lifestyle. They fled Colombia in 1994 and had to live as refugees in different countries. She secretly lived in Buenos Aires with the two kids with a fake identity. She had changed her name to Maria Isabel Santos Cabellero, son’s to Sebastian Marroquin and daughter’s to Juana Manuela Marroquin Santos.

In 2000, Henao and her son were charged with money laundering and were imprisoned for about 15 months. She said this during her trial, “I am a prisoner in Argentina for being Colombian. They want to try the ghost of Pablo Escobar because they want to prove that Argentina is combating drug trafficking.” 

Where Is Maria Victoria Henao Currently?

Maria is currently living a quiet life away from Colombia maintaining a very low profile. She hasn’t appeared in the media since her trial.
