Further, Steven was instrumental in stopping the London Bridge stabber. Due to his heroic actions, he has been awarded a Queen’s pardon, which will reduce his sentence by 10 months.

In 2020, the murdered firefighter’s son, 21-year-old Mr.Jackson, said he feels Steven had done his time and might have been rehabilitated.

Who Did Steven Gallant Murder?

Steven Gallant, age 42, was jailed for 17 years in 2005 for the murder of ex-firefighter Barrie Jackson in Hull. 

He was with Khan on a jail rehabilitation visit to London when the radicalized prisoner produced two knives attacking and killing visit organizer Jack Merrit and Saskia Jones. 

Gallant was on day release attending a prisoner rehabilitation event when he confronted Usman Khan with a narwhal tusk after the 28-year-old began stabbing people in November 2019.

Furthermore, Steven was one of three filmed restraining Khan on the bridge during the attack.

According to BBC, “As ex-prisoner John Crilly sprayed Khan with a fire extinguisher, and Darryn Frost jabbed him with a narwhal tusk, Mr. Gallant pulled him to the ground where the three men held him until armed officers arrived.”

During the crime time, “Six police officers from the Met and City of London fired 20 times at Khan, including 18 shots in a 90-second period.”
