Jack Ingram, a five-time NASCAR champion who won over 300 races in his career, has died because of a car accident.
The native of Avery’s Creek, North Carolina, and the 2014 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Jack died at 84.
According to an accident report filed by the Asheville Police Department, the 2002 Chevrolet driven by Ingram collided with a 1999 Ford pick-up driven by a 36-year-old man from neighboring Henderson, North Carolina.

According to the report, Ingram’s vehicle was hit in the driver’s side door.
Ingram was taken to Mission Hospital with undetermined injuries.
One of Ingram’s two passengers was also sent to the hospital with symptoms of discomfort in his right arm.
To authorities, the driver of the second car suffered no injuries.
The tragedy happened less than a tenth of a mile from Asheville Motor Speedway, where Ingram was a local legend.
